Captivating Canine Salon Mentoring Program Captivating Canines (formally Tailwaggers Pet Salon) is a full service dog grooming salon located in the Brickyard Marketplace on Nathan Ellis Highway. Not only do we offer dog grooming we offer a self service dog wash, dog training, doggie daycare and wellness center.I have been grooming for twelve years and have owned my own salon for three years now. I have worked with and taught several other groomers at other salons in the area. I have worked in many shops and seen many techniques and apprenticed under some of the best master groomers as well as attended dog grooming shows yearly to further my education in learning new techniques and fads that the industry encounters. One thing I have come across time and time again are dog groomers who have paid six to seven thousand dollars on schooling in which they only learned just enough to pass as a dog groomer but could never be considered pet stylists…. Having pride and feeling reward in what you do makes this job so wonderful, learning a trade that brings pet parents joy and building lasting relationships with each one to keep them coming back to YOU every time is a huge part of the industry that most people don’t get. After teaching my first student at a local salon I decided I needed to one day offer this opportunity to others who wanted to learn. The pet industry is a billion dollar industry jobs are always available people love their pets so much so that many salon owners will tell you this is a recession free profession. In this program you will learn all about dogs… their health and wellness, grooming and styling ,breeds, personality traits, proper handling and body language through book work and hands on activity. Attached you can find an outline. You will also learn how to build relationships with clients so you can successfully gain clientele that request for your grooming services, remember this is a business the product you are selling is you! Yes you want to do this because you love dogs but you also need to love people too (they are the ones with the money) bad attitudes in this industry will get you nowhere. The cost is 3,300 dollars plus the purchase of your own equipment which you will not need until the second month. The program runs Mon Tues and Wed from 9 am to 3 pm it starts Tues January 3 2012 and ends Thursday May 3 2012. If the program ends and you still feel you need to learn more or are not ready you can stay involved in our work type atmosphere two days a week at no extra charge to ensure you are ready for your new and exciting career! You want quality notquantity at first and most grooming salons pay 50% commissions plus tips, this means you have to work to make your money, Please remember “Rome was not built in a day” building speed and quality together take time rushing is how dogs get injured and so does your reputation. Anyone who tells you that you will definitely be grooming 6 and 7 dogs a day fresh out of grooming school is not teaching quality, although some of you may be able to…. each person has their own pace and there is nothing wrong with that. I understand that everyone’s comfort zone is different, that is very important for each person participating in this program to understand before beginning. I hope this information was useful in helping you make your decision… is grooming right for you? It is hard work but very rewarding. My employees have the opportunity to make anywhere from 100$ to 250$ dollars a day styling dogs this also applies to most grooming salons in and out of the area. Please call to confirm your participation 508 292 9508.
